Meet John Usher: PSI’s New Director of Talent Acquisition
John Usher has always felt a calling to help people in need, but he wasn’t always sure how that would play a part in his career direction. When he first graduated college, like many who take their first steps into the workforce, he was looking for anything to pay the bills. Recruiting became a natural fit that allowed him to contribute to the community and fulfill his passion.
“When I first started recruiting I had recently graduated from college and was just looking for any good job,” John commented. “I had no idea what I wanted to do. After I started working I realized that Talent Acquisition was more than just a job, it was a calling for me.”
Now, with over 16 years of experience in Talent Acquisition, John leverages his experience to enhance the skills of the team around him and strengthen the quality of delivery to clients. John explained how he loves being able to make a positive change for businesses by providing the specialists they need to take their projects to the next level.
“I also feel gratified when I’m able to help people find life-changing career opportunities,” he commented. “As a Technical Recruiter, I understand and embrace my role in shaping the way technology is developed and put into use. I take pride in what I do as a driver within the Tech community.”
John came to PSI in 2023 after reconnecting with a former colleague, PSI President & CEO Monty Ragland. Monty gave John his first recruiting opportunity many years ago. After they parted ways, Monty and John stayed in contact in hopes of having another opportunity to work together. The opportunity presented itself a few months ago when PSI was in search of a new Director of Talent Acquisition.
“Having worked with John before, I knew he was a strong fit for the role,” commented Monty. “His overall IT Recruiting knowledge in addition to his Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science subject matter expertise, combined with his calming presence makes him a great addition to the team.”
